What does future hold for medical field?

A Christian medical leader says the current culture governed by business and government interests instead of patient interest has him deeply concerned about the climate of the medical profession.

Some medical experts predict severe doctor shortages, especially with the passage of healthcare reform legislation. But Dr. Gene Rudd, senior vice president of the Christian Medical Association (CMA), tells OneNewsNow there is already a critical doctor shortage in certain areas of healthcare. In his field of obstetrics and gynecology, for example, the deficiency is desperate because of the climate.

"Not only is there lots of litigation, there's also this fear that doctors in training are being forced to do abortions as part of their training," he laments.

The CMA senior vice president adds that two aspects have fostered a change in the culture of medicine: business and government interests, and the devaluing of human life.

Well, a healthcare bill has been proposed by the Senate & Obama is sure to sign this text book case of government usurpation.

For one thing, when a Democrat or our President says that this bill will not cover illegal aliens or cover abortion, in the words of Rep. Joe Wilson...the lie! If this bill wasn't going to cover those two cases then why did every amendment that a Republican brought forth to restrict them get voted down every time?

Second, this new bill is going to cut Medicare & increase Medicade. Those who already have insurance, rather provided by their job or purchased personally will notice an increase in the cost.

Medical devices, such as stents, hip replacement hardware, pacemakers, etc... will have a significant taxation. If the insurance you have does not follow exactly what the government is mandating, you will be fined. For example, if your insurance doesn't cover drug or alcohol counseling, you will be fined. Drug & alcohol counseling may sound nice but if you are like me & don't do drugs & may have 5-6 drinks a year, why should I pay extra for such a service?

Government has no business sticking their nose in healthcare. The reform we need for healthcare is for the government to get out of it.

HR 3200 'encroaches' on parental rights

A spokesperson with the Independent Women's Forum is concerned that healthcare reform will limit parental rights.

Senior policy analyst Nicole Kurokawa is concerned that decisions concerning healthcare for children will be left up to a proposed Health Benefits Advisory Committee instead of parents. According to H.R. 3200, that committee will be responsible for setting recommendations for government-approved healthcare plans, which citizens will be forced to buy into, whether they be public or private.

Kurokawa is worried that under that approach, government officials could require that children receive all available vaccines -- even the controversial ones such as the HPV vaccine.

Our President reaches new lows

In case you haven't heard, Obama is now asking citizens to report anyone who disagrees with his idea of health care to the White House. Whether it be in the form of emails, blogs, web sites, or casual conversation, you can now be reported to the White House by some tattle-tale.

Geeze people, really, how old are we?

Not only is his idea of health care ridiculous but now he has decided to take away our freedom of speech, press, & protest. It has only been a few months since he has taken office & already he has began to act like a socialist dictator. I'm scared to death to see what this country will look like at the end of this year. Can you imagine what it will look like at the end of his ruling...that is if he decided to relinquish it.

Maybe I should report myself. :)

Catholic Nurse Forced to Perform Abortion?

The New York Post reports that a Catholic nurse from Brooklyn, New York is claiming that the hospital where she's employed ordered her to assist in a late term abortion or be fired.

Bosses told the weeping Cenzon-DeCarlo the patient was 22 weeks into her pregnancy and had preeclampsia, a condition marked by high blood pressure that can lead to seizures or death if left untreated.

But the nurse, the niece of a Filipino bishop, contends that the patient's life was not in danger. She argued that the patient was not even on magnesium therapy, a common treatment for preeclampsia, and did not have problems indicating an emergency.

She said she later learned that the hospital's own records deemed the procedure "Category II," which is not considered immediately life threatening.

Slightly more awful from a hospital called "Mount Sinai" named for the mountain where God gave Moses a list of commandments which included "Thou Shall Not Kill."

While running for President, Barack Obama used the word “change” as his mantra. A lot of people thought he meant that in a good way.

They’re finding out they were wrong.

Recently, President Obama said one of the ways we (aka: the government) can cut back on health care costs is by denying medical care to old people. If you think that was heartless, check out the thoughts of Obama’s science czar. Apparently he’s for “forced abortions, mass sterilization, and a ‘Planetary Regime’ with the power of life and death over American citizens.”

This administration made a lot of promises it has broken.

When the government health care plans we already have are set to run out of money in a few years, there is no reason to assume this one would be any more efficient. Especially considering what a spendthrift Obama has been already.

The author went on to say:

"When the government has people dependent on a medical system it starts to treat them like property and tells them how to live. It also makes decisions on whether they live or die by telling them whether or not they will get an operation."

"The change Obama wants for America is fundamentally inhumane and dangerous. Real change begins next November when we clean house and start sending politicians home. Take away those who vote for his bills and he becomes a paper tiger with the words “One-Termer” on his forehead."

In Defense of the Frail Elderly

Even the most modest towns across our nation have nursing facilities, home health agencies, and community resources available to help maintain the dignity, function, and quality of life of the frail older adult. There are organizations and niche providers such as Hospice and Meals on Wheels who work in the trenches daily with the elderly and their families to make the best of an oftentimes hopeless situation. We as a nation should be thankful to this arm of the healthcare industry, and shudder when we reflect that, if Obamacare reforms are successful, it could sound the death knell for these types of services which the frail elderly population depends upon and deserves.

A physician at our local Tea Party stated one platform of healthcare reform is to withhold vital treatment in the last 6 months of the patient's life.

Do we really want our government deciding when our last 6 months have arrived?

A friend of mine posted a comment on her Facebook page about socialized medicine recently which sparked quite a debate. Most commenters were very much against Obama's plan but one commenter was quite for it. This idiot went on to say "BUT everyone should must have the same opportunities to Health care. And that includes limiting treatment to the "hope less cases" empty the nursing homes!!!"

Wow. Nice guy. Now this guy is 49 yrs old & not in prime condition by the looks of his profile pic so, I guess he is either planning on taking advantage of Obama's plan to make euthanasia available so that he can all spare us the cost. (I won't even go into his issue with grammar & writing...I guess, using my logic, since he isn't a teenager, he must have been drunk when writing this comment.)

Most people assume they will either drift off in their sleep or have a massive heart attack & that will be that. But with the technology we have today, that is not often the case. The problem is we survive. We go on. We don't die. We continue for months sometimes years. Now, this sounds great, but is it? Working in health care, I would say most of the people who come in that need immediate intervention to continue to live get it & survive. However, many of these lives are changed forever. They may be as bad off as to remain in a coma for years & years to come or may just need the assistance of a walker for the rest of their lives. But, do we really want the government to say when our time is up? If this particular man has a stroke but survives leaving him unable to care for himself completely but still coherent & able to carry on a conversation with someone, do you think he will still be in support of "emptying the nursing homes?"

Obviously this buffoon has never had anyone close to him suffer. While not everyone on the left may feel like he does, I have a feeling more than we think do.

Here's your mandated, massively expensive health insurance plan

Every citizen will be required to have some kind of approved health insurance. If they don't have it, they will be fined.

cost estimates came in far higher than expected. The initial price tag for a measure drafted by the Senate Finance Committee, for example, was $1.6 trillion over 10 years.

Under the House bill, health insurance would be regulated by a powerful new federal agency, headed by a presidential appointee known as the health choices commissioner.

The bill would impose a new "tax on individuals without acceptable health care coverage." The tax would be based on a person's income and could not exceed the average cost of a basic health insurance policy. People could be exempted from the tax "in cases of hardship."

In reality, it is a recipe for fiscal disaster and a loss of personal freedom so profound as to call into question the American experiment itself.

Simple Healthcare Math

the Congressional Budget Office issued a report this week concluding, from a partial draft of a Senate health committee bill, that the plan would cost $1 trillion over 10 years but only provide coverage for 16 million of the estimated 50 million Americans who are uninsured.

A hundred and sixty billion dollars per year is $13.3B per month to insure only 16 million people. That works out to about $833 per subscriber. That might be a good price for a 75-year-old, but Medicare already covers them. Mr. Obama wants taxpayers to insure Americans in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.

A quick scan of the Anthem Blue Cross website shows that society could get a much better deal in the private sector -- even without a 16-million person group rate. A Santa Monica, California 50-year-old male can get a $3500 deductible HSA policy for $172 per month. That includes drug coverage and no co-pay for office visits after the deductible is met.

In a meeting with House Republicans at the White House Thursday, President Obama reminded the minority that the last time he reached out to them, they reacted with zero votes -- twice -- for his stimulus package. And then he reminded them again. And again. And again.

A GOP source familiar with the meeting said that the president was extremely sensitive -- even "thin-skinned" -- to the fact that the stimulus bill received no GOP votes in the House. He continually brought it up throughout the meeting.

Obama also offered payback for that goose egg. A major overhaul of the health care system, he told the Republican leadership, would be done using a legislative process known as reconciliation, meaning that the GOP won't be able to filibuster it.

Congress has until October 15 to pass health care or student lending reform under the normal process. If it doesn't, reconciliation can be used to eliminate the 60-vote requirement.

Another GOP aide said that Obama and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) had a back-and-forth about the zero votes. Obama argued that House Republicans had made a "strategic decision" to oppose the stimulus, while Boehner countered that Obama hadn't accepted House Republican input on the bill.

"Fast-tracking a major legislative overhaul such as health care reform or a new national energy tax without the benefit of a full and transparent debate does a disservice to the American people," said McConnell in a statement. "And it would make it absolutely clear they intend to carry out their plans on a purely partisan basis."
