I have recently purchased a book called 4,000 Questions for Getting to Know Anyone and Everyone by Barbara Ann Kipfer. Someone on YouTube mentioned this book & I thought it sounded really cool so I looked it up on Amazon & decided to get it. I love this book. There are so many great questions. I got it at first thinking it might help with "ice breakers" in church small groups but now I've decided to use it more for myself.
I am going to try to do one question a day but I'm not great at consistency or commitments so I'm going to try for it but not beat myself up if I miss a day or two or seven or more. I will post every question & try to answer them but some of them are way too private or personal for me to discuss here but I will still post the question. Ok, so here it goes...
Question #1: Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Texas in a small town (hardly even a town more like a community) called Malta. It is located about 7 miles between two towns, New Boston & DeKalb. Malta is so small that we had a New Boston address & a DeKalb phone number. Texarkana (a twin

Malta is a country community. Until I was a senior in high school, we lived down a dirt road. My parents still live there, the road commissioner just decided to pave the road that year, or did everyone on the road decide to pitch in & pay for it, I can't really remember.
I went to Malta school in kindergarten, moved to New Boston Elem (aka Crestview, although there is no crest & no view) for about 6 weeks of my 1st grade year then back to Malta, moved to Simms Elem. (aka James Bowie Elem.) in 5th grade, then went to high school at New Boston HS.
I don't really know what else to say. I'm sure this will get much more interesting & more comfortable as I go along so keep coming back. If any of you would like to answer these questions too, feel free.
It's so cool that you enjoy my book! If you go to my website http:\\www.thingstobehappyabout.com, you will find 10,000+ questions in the Schoolhouse. Enjoy! Barbara Ann Kipfer
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a very similar small town.
ReplyDeleteInteresting book. I may have to check it out. Although in general people tend to tell me way too much about themselves w/o my ever asking. I'm not sure why that is. LOL
